Class I – 10:15am – 1:15pm

Ethics: Choosing Humility in Work with Diverse Populations (3 CE credits- Ethics)

The NASW Code of Ethics now emphasizes the ongoing responsibility of social workers to engage diversity and difference in practice. Yet, practitioners often unconsciously default to ethnocentric assumptions, overlooking the importance of cultural competence in service delivery. True competence involves habits of mind—attentiveness, critical curiosity, and self-awareness—not just technical knowledge.

This training promotes ethical practice by helping clinicians recognize and engage diversity more effectively. Through interactive discussions and experiential activities, participants will explore cultural literacy, gain practical tools to reduce bias, and deepen their understanding of how identity and difference impact service delivery—all in alignment with the NASW standards on Cultural Awareness and Social Diversity.

(Trainer, Keisha Atlee, LCSW-C, Executive Director of Evolve and founder of Urban Affiliates)

Class 2-  2:00pm-5:00pm

Implicit Bias & Cultural Humility with LGBTQ+ Treatment and Care (3 CE credits, LGBTQ Cult. Comp. Anti-Oppressive Practice)

This engaging and thought-provoking training offers clinicians and helping professionals a foundational understanding of implicit bias and cultural humility, specifically as they relate to working with LGBTQ+ individuals. Through interactive activities, case studies, and group discussion, participants will explore the nuances of identity, intersectionality, and systemic barriers impacting LGBTQ+ communities. The training emphasizes the importance of language,  support, and inclusive practices, equipping attendees with tools to create safer, more affirming environments across healthcare and mental health settings. Participants will leave with a deeper awareness of their own biases and practical strategies to reduce health disparities and promote equity in care.

(Trainer, Sherrie L. Ludwick, LCPC, NCC is a trauma specialist, trained in Somatic Experiencing (SE), Transforming the Experience-Based Brain (TEB) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), along with other techniques used to treat trauma. Sherrie is also an AASECT certified Sex Therapist)
