While the detrimental consequences of social isolation have always been acknowledged, the emergence of COVID-19 placed a spotlight on the suffering associated with this kind of isolation. NaKaisha Tolbert-Banks, LCSW, MSW, LCAC reflects on the lasting impact of social isolation through the lens of the pandemic and beyond. NaKaisha will guide participants through the definitions of social isolation, identifying the role of empathy in how we respond to social isolation among individuals and communities, as well as applying interventions to support those experiencing social isolation in a variety of contexts.

 

NaKaisha Tolbert-Banks is the energetic Founder and CEO of D.U.O. Empowerment Services. Hailing from the midwest, she serves in the community as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor, and Certified Laughter Empowerment Coach in her private practice. NaKaisha has a true passion for serving individuals and communities and is a firm believer that laughter is truly one of the keys to life. NaKaisha embraces opportunities, as an international trainer, to speak to, empower, and engage communities in becoming mentally healthier by fighting stigma attached to mental illness, especially within women’s health and underserved communities. She is a published author, enjoys tacos, spending quality time with friends and family, and graciously serves as a loving wife and proud mom of two beautiful angels.
