Best Approaches in Trauma Treatment

We all strive to be the best therapist for the people that pay us to assist them. Many trainings profess to have the answer to treating trauma.  Therapists begin to wonder if they are using the best approaches,

Part I of this training is an introduction to different techniques used to work with people to heal from trauma situations (single incident or long term).  An introduction to Somatic Therapies, Art Therapy, Mindfulness, EMDR, and Meditation are all included.  Work from Van der Kolk, Levine, Ogden, and others will be introduced to give an overview of what is currently being promoted as therapies and techniques for trauma in best practice.

Part II of this training will give therapists an opportunity to observe and practice some of these different techniques in order to bring some ideas back that can be integrated into practice.  This training will give therapists ideas that they can build upon and ways to identify where they might like to learn more to further their knowledge base. (Trainer, Sherrie L. Ludwick, LCPC, NCC is a repair specialist at Dr. Stephanie’s Relationship Repair Shop, Sherrie is also trained in art therapy, and Reiki, a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation)

*Evening HIV Ethics*

In addition to ethics, the evening training also meets the HIV requirement for medical professionals and social workers.

Class 3 – 5:30pm – 8:30pm

(3 CEUs, 3 CME Hrs)

HIV: A Virus, a Syndrome, and an Ethical Question

Since the early 1980’s clinicians have been grappling with the medical, social and ethical ramifications of the HIV/Aids Epidemic. On the medical front, great progress has been achieved. With proper medication people with HIV are living longer than ever, to the point where some no longer consider it a fatal illness. Yet in our region and in many large cities, HIV cases remain above epidemic rates and many questions still remain.

This informative training will offer an understanding of current thinking around the HIV/AIDS epidemic and what it means for clients today and into the future. This training will look at what treatment is available for HIV, and the best ways to prevent new infections. We will take a fresh look at some of the ethical dilemmas that clinicians have been grappling with for more than a generation. This 3 CEU class counts as both Ethics and HIV training. (Trainer, Jeffrey Davidson, LCSW-C, LICSW, Director CE You!)

Free Parking Refreshments are served through out the day.
