Digital Ethics: Technology in the workplace (3 CEUs – Ethics)

Confidentiality is a huge part of providing health care. HIPAA and ethical codes provide some guidance, but it can be confusing to understand what is being asked of us in regards to implementation of confidentiality with the use of technology.

This interactive training will help participants understand the common factors that cause breaches and how to use risk assessments to plan and implement changes that need to occur. Participants will learn how to assess, respond to, and implement changes to meet guidelines for confidentiality.

Attendees will have an opportunity to examine some of the common mistakes and potential issues, that can arise through use of technology. Small group work during this training will assist participants to develop solutions to these concerns that can be integrated into practice. (Trainer, Sherrie L. Ludwick, LCPC, NCC is a relationship repair specialist, and is trained in Somatic Experiencing & other techniques used to treat trauma.)

social justice

Class 2 – 1:45pm – 4:45pm

Keepin’ It Real: The Ethical Dimensions of being “JUST” in a society that is still divided  (3 CEUs – Ethics)

This interactive training will explore issues related to social justice, and how the ethical codes and principles align with treating clients equally and fair. We will address how clinicians and practitioners are responsible for the moral and ethical treatment of clients: individually, and communally. There will be discussions on dispelling myths, stereotypes, generalizations, and microaggressions made by society that continues to oppress and marginalize certain groups.

This class will challenge clinicians and practitioners to understand how they play an important role in advocating for clients individually, locally, nationally, and globally, along with motivating them to be “change agents of justice.” This training will also review some ethical case scenarios related to social justice. (Trainer, Lisa R. Connors, LCPC, LBSW, M.Div, MA, NCC, is a current member and past Co-Chair of the HIV Planning Group (HPG) for the state of Maryland, and a past member of the Board of Directors for the Maryland Chapter of NASW. She has also served as the Division President of the Maryland Association for Spiritual, Ethical, & Religious Values in Counseling, a division of the Maryland Counseling Association, and is a college professor)

couples counseling

Class 3 –  5:30pm – 8:30pm (3 CEUs – Ethics)

Ethical Practice for Couples Therapy!

Therapists are taught of our ethical responsibility to “Do no Harm”. Couples therapy is an area in which the potential for harm to the client is great as “unsuccessful therapy” can make a relationship worse and even lead to divorce. Besides basic competency in couple’s work, there are other practices of good therapy that when applied will ensure that the therapist provides a safe and neutral environment for the couple to work through their issues.

This interactive training will help you explore the best ethical practices for couple’s therapy as well as explore why working with couples requires a different set of core competencies than individual therapy. Through lecture and interactive discussions, participants will consider the various ethical dilemmas that arise in couple’s therapy. They will also learn how to better provide neutrality and unconditional positive regard for the couple.

Participants will learn best ethical practices for couple’s therapy that will make their work with couples more effective. You will examine real case scenarios and will gain skills that will be useful to all areas of your clinical practice. (Trainer Rabbi Shlomo Slatkin, MS, LCPC is a certified Imago Relationship Therapy Advanced Clinician. Rabbi Slatkin is the author of numerous publications  and is a founder of the Marriage Restoration Project)
