Conflict Repair Strategies: Eighteen Cutting Edge Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions for Peaceful Influence
Do you have clients who are anxious or depressed due to marriage, family, or workplace conflict? Helping people to effectively resolve relationship conflict is no easy task, and some professionals even shy away from client cases in which conflict is the presenting problem. Conflict from unresolved complaints is so common that every professional can benefit from tools to help clients respond properly.
Dr. Stephanie Weiland Knarr is a conflict resolution expert who teaches a cutting edge, practical Relationship Repair CBT technique for helping clients to change their cognitions and behaviors when someone presents them with a relationship complaint. Dr. Stephanie uses case examples, humor, personal stories, videos of clinical intervention, role plays during the seminar, and online self-assessment tools that audience members can use in real time.
Participants will leave the seminar with new practical assessment tools that you can use to help your clients with conflict resolution problems. (Trainer, Stephanie Weiland Knarr PhD, LCMFT is the author of the new book, Dr. Stephanie’s Relationship Repair for Couples. She was recently featured on the WBAL TV Morning Show)
Class 2 – 1:45pm-4:45pm (3 CEUs)
Helping Clients Find their Dreams!
The world of therapy often directs clinicians, to focus on a person’s problems: What’s the diagnosis? What is the presenting problem? How do we work on “fixing” the problem using a treatment plan? What if instead of focusing on the problem, we focus on the solution? This workshop takes solution-focused counseling to another level.
In this interactive 3 hour workshop you will learn easy tools to help your clients: identify and state life dreams (long term life goals), discover hidden strengths, and identify the key supports that are needed to successfully achieve the identified dream. When a client can meet his/her life dream or even can see a clear road to attaining that dream, many problems often fall by the wayside.
Participants will examine real case scenarios and gain skills that will be useful to all areas of clinical practice. (Trainer, Sherrie L. Ludwick, LCPC, NCC is a relationship repair specialist, and is trained in Somatic Experiencing & other techniques used to treat trauma.)
*Evening Ethics*
Class 3 – 5:30pm – 8:30pm
(3 Category I Ethics CEUs)
The Change Ethic!
Why does change seem so hard? What can we learn about change from alligators, elephants, and a Code of Ethics? One of the most basic ethical principles of the helping professions is that clinicians need to assist clients in realizing their capacity to change. While this ethical principle goes to the very core of practice, practitioners often find themselves at a loss when working with “resistant” clients.
This interactive training will examine the obligation to help clients change and teach effective methods to achieving this ethical obligation. (Trainer Jeffrey Davidson LCSW-C, LICSW)
